Grants

OpenCorporates has a unique public interest business model, and its sustainability comes primarily from commercial income, not grants. However, we are fortunate to be recipients of some research and innovation grants, and in the spirit of transparency we are listing these below.

This project was to develop an methodology, tools and pipeline to collect, ingest and extract data from a variety of regulatory data, including financial licences, with the help of the open data community.

ODINE

OpenGazettes   Completed

OpenGazettes is a project to make government gazettes more visible, more useful, and more relevant. Despite a 300-year-old legacy and being the public record for legal notices, government gazettes (also called official journals in some EU countries) are astonishingly poorly known outside, even by those who are affected by their contents. This is why OpenCorporates – with the help of a grant from ODINE, an open data incubator by the European Union – decided to build OpenGazettes.

This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 732003.

Mohn Westlake

The Mohn Westlake Foundation

The grant from The Mohn Westlake Foundation is helping us to considerably accelerate our work by substantially increasing our ability to find, QA, ingest new company related data for the public benefit. We are doing this by strengthening our data team, and investing in creating new tools, technologies and processes to improve our productivity and revolutionise how we manage our data, thus allowing us to make a significant and permanent difference to corporate transparency.
